Originally I Wrote Bhagavad-gétä As It Is In The Form In Which It Is Presented Now. When This Book Was First Published, The Original Manuscript Was, Unfortunately, Cut Short To Less Than 400 Pages, Without Illustrations And Without Explanations For Most Of The Original Verses Of The Çrémad Bhagavad-gétä.

In All Of My Other Books-çrémad-bhägavatam, Çré Éçopaniñad, Etc.-the System Is That I Give The Original Verse, Its English Transliteration, Word-for-word Sanskrit-english Equivalents, Translations And Purports. This Makes The Book Very Authentic And Scholarly And Makes The Meaning Self-evident.

I Was Not Very Happy, Therefore, When I Had To Minimize My Original Manuscript. But Later On, When The Demand For Bhagavad-gétä As It Is Considerably Increased, I Was Requested By Many Scholars And Devotees To Present The Book In Its Original Form. Thus The Present Attempt Is To Offer The Original Manuscript Of This Great Book Of Knowledge With Full Paramparä Explanation In Order To Establish The Kåñëa Consciousness Movement More Soundly And Progressively.

Our Kåñëa Consciousness Movement Is Genuine, Historically Authorized, Natural And Transcendental Due To Its Being Based On Bhagavad-gétä As It Is. It Is Gradually Becoming The Most Popular Movement In The Entire World, Especially Amongst The Younger Generation.

It Is Becoming More And More Interesting To The Older Generation Also. Older Gentlemen Are Becoming Interested, So Much So That The Fathers And Grandfathers Of My Disciples Are Encouraging Us By Becoming Life Members Of Our Great Society, The International Society For Krishna Consciousness.

In Los Angeles Many Fathers And Mothers Used To Come To See Me To Express Their Feelings Of Gratitude For My Leading The Kåñëa Consciousness Movement Throughout The Entire World. Some Of Them Said That It Is Greatly Fortunate For The Americans That I Have Started The Kåñëa Consciousness Movement In America.

But Actually The Original Father Of This Movement Is Lord Kåñëa Himself, Since It Was Started A Very Long Time Ago But Is Coming Down To Human Society By Disciplic Succession. If I Have Any Credit In This Connection, It Does Not Belong To Me Personally, But It Is Due To My Eternal Spiritual Master, His Divine Grace Oà Viñëupäda Paramahaàsa Parivräjakäcärya 108 Çré Çrémad Bhaktisiddhänta Sarasvaté Gosvämé Mahäräja Prabhupäda.

If I Can Take Any Credit For This Situation At All, It Is For Trying To Teach Bhagavad-gétä Authentically And Without Any Embellishment. Nearly All Of The English Translations Of The Bhagavad-gétä Were Published Before My Presentation Of The Text As It Is In Order To Further The Personal Ambition Of One Individual Or Another. But In Presenting Bhagavad-gétä As It Is, We Are Attempting To Convey The Purpose Of The Supreme Personality Of Godhead, Ka.

Our Job Is To Present Ka’s Will, Not The Will Of Any Common Speculation Like A Politician, Philosopher, Or Scientist Because, Despite All Of Their Other Knowledge, They Know Very Little About Ka. Unlike The So-called Experts, We Do Not Assert That Ka And His Inner Spirit Are Distinct When He Says Things Like Man-manä Bhava Mad-bhakto Mad-yäjé Mäà Namaskuru [bg. 18.65], Etc. Since Ka Is Unchangeable, There Is No Distinction Between Ka’s Name, Ka’s Form, Ka’s Attributes, Ka’s Pastimes, Etc.

Anyone Who Is Not A Follower Of Ka In The Paramparä (Disciplic Succession) System Finds It Difficult To Comprehend This Absolute Position Of Ka. When Writing Commentary On The Bhagavad-gétä, So-called Scholars, Politicians, Philosophers, And Svämés Frequently Attempt To Exile Or Kill Ka Because They Lack Complete Knowledge Of Him. According To Lord Caitanya, These Unauthorised Men Have Been Warning Us About Their Mäyäväda-bhäya Commentary On The Bhagavad-gétä. Anyone Who Attempts To Comprehend The Bhagavad-gétä From The Mäyävädé Point Of View Will Make A Serious Error, According To Lord Caitanya. As A Result Of Such An Error, The Mistaken Bhagavad-gétä Student Will Undoubtedly Become Lost On The Path Of Spiritual Guidance And Be Unable To Return To His Or Her True Home, Godhead.

Our Sole Aim Is To Present The Bhagavad-gétä In Its Original Form In Order To Direct The Conditionally Conditioned Pupil Towards The Same Goal For Which Ka Visits This Planet Only Once Every Brahmä Day, Or Once Every 8,600,000,000 Years. In Order To Understand The Bhagavad-gétä And Its Speaker, Lord Ka, We Must Accept This Aim As Stated In The Text As There Would Be No Value In Doing So. Some Hundreds Of Millions Of Years Ago, Lord Ka Recited The Bhagavad-gétä To The Sun Deity For The Very First Time.

Accepting This Reality Will Enable Us To Comprehend The Historical Importance Of The Bhagavad-gétä On Krishna’s Authority Without Distortion. The Greatest Sin Is To Interpret The Bhagavad-gétä Without Any Consideration Of Krishna’s Will. The Only Way To Avoid Committing This Offence Is To Comprehend The Lord As The Supreme Personality Of Godhead, As Arjuna, Lord Krsna’s First Student, Did. Such An Understanding Of The Bhagavad-gétä Is Legitimate And Highly Beneficial For The Advancement Of Human Civilization And The Accomplishment Of Its Purpose.

The Ka Awareness Movement Is Crucial To Human Society Because It Provides The Highest Level Of Life Perfection. The Bhagavad-gétä Goes Into Great Detail About Why This Is The Case. Unfortunately, Mundane Wranglers Have Exploited Bhagavad-gétä To Advance Their Demonic Tendencies And Deceive People About The Proper Comprehension Of Basic Life Principles. Everyone Should Be Aware Of How Great God, Or Ka, Is As Well As The Actual Status Of All Living Things.

Everyone Should Be Aware That A Living Thing Is A Servant For All Time, And That Unless One Serves Ka, They Must Serve Illusion In Various Manifestations Of The Three Modes Of Material Nature And Thereby Wander Aimlessly Within The Cycle Of Birth And Death. Even The So-called Liberated Mäyävädé Speculator Must Go Through This Process. Every Living Thing Needs To Hear About This Knowledge Because It Is A Fantastic Science For Their Own Benefit.
