Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (Gmrc) Limited, Formerly Known As “Metro-link Express For Gandhinagar And Ahmedabad” (Mega), Is Building The Ahmedabad Metro, An Urban Mass Rapid Transit System (Mrts), To Serve Gandhinagar, Gujarat’s Capital, And Ahmedabad, The State’s Largest City, In The Future.

Phase 1 Of The Ahmedabad Metro, Which Comprises Routes Totaling 39.259 Kilometres, Began Construction In 2015. In March 2019, A 6 Kilometre Stretch Of Line-1 Between Apparel Park And Vastral Gam Was Opened. On September 30, 2022, The Remainder Of Phase 1-aside From The 1.4 Kilometre Thaltej – Thaltej Gam Section-was Officially Opened.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (Dmrc) Was Chosen By The Gujarat State Government In February 2016 To Create The Detailed Project Report For Phase 2. The State Budget For Gujarat For 2016–17 Included A Budgetary Allocation Of Rs 2 Crore (Dpr). According To The Draught Dpr, The 18.522 Km Line-2 Would Be Extended Northward To Link With Gandhinagar’s Mahatma Mandir And Will Include One Branch/spur Line To Gift City. The Construction Of A 28.254 Km Phase 2 With 2 Corridors, A Northward Expansion Of Line-2 With A Brief Offshoot, Was Authorised By India’s Union Cabinet In February 2019. The Prime Minister Formally Placed Its Cornerstone On March 4, 2019.

The 6 Kilometre Segment Of The Blue Line From Apparel Park To Vastral Gam Initially Underwent Construction In 2015 And Was Made Public On March 6 Of This Year. Inviting Construction Bids For All Remaining Sections Was Completed By Mega In July 2016, And The Final Civil Contract Was Granted In February 2017.

The Gmrc Has Not Posted The Fare Schedule For The Ahmedabad Metro Online. A Ride On The First 2.5 Km Of The 6 Km Operating Line (Apparel Park To Vastral Gam) Costs Rs. 5, While The Last 3.5 Km Cost Rs. 10. The Projected Fare For The Entire Line (Thaltej Gam To Vastral Gam) Is Rs. 25.
